چکیده
Steroid hormones such as oestrogen and progesterone play multidimensional role in regulation of reproduction, metabolic neuroendocrine functions humans animals. Phytoestrogens bind to receptors mimic the oestrogen, thus a management fertility well therapy hormone dependent cancers. The whole plant Boerrhavia diffusa was collected locally from campus College Veterinary Animal sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur. qualitative phytochemical analysis performed on methanolic extracts for presence steroids, alkaloids, tannins, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, diterpenes, triterpenes saponins [1]. In present study, extract B. analysed its modulatory activity steroidogenesis. cytotoxicity explored using MTT assay MCF-7 cells IC50 calculated. were also cultured six plates exposed (IC50, 2 times half dose IC50) 96 hours. culture media every 48 hours, stored at -80 °C used estimation by ELISA. revealed glycosides, tannins flavonoids. Through found be 170 µg/mL. showed significant increase concentration with maximum 340 There decrease when hours post treatment Hence it could concluded that down regulated synthesis independent interconversion cholesterol progesterone. effect may pathway conversion oestrogen.
